Looters Return Goods After VooDoo Threats.

January 8, 2008 by Jerry · Leave a Comment

Looters were scrambling over each other to return goods that had been stolen from various shops and outlets in the coastal tourist magnet of Mombasa, Kenya. Unfortunately the return of goods was not inspired by remorse but by voodoo and black magic threats. A six day deadline had been issued that whoever had looted must return the goods within the six days or risk suffering untold misery. The Goods were stolen during the post election skirmishes when mass protests erupted after President Mwai Kibaki was hurriedly sworn in following elections that both local and International Observers report were largely rigged in his favour.

Today being the sixth day and last day, persons who had looted were spotted hurriedly returning the goods. Goods ranging from furniture, electronics to building materials were being returned to the outlets they were grabbed from. The looters were mainly threatened that their essential abilities of answering calls of nature, both long and short, would be impaired. Reports of a looter who all of a sudden could not answer a short call of nature despite being pressed spread through the town like wild fire. A man who had stolen a luxurious bed from a furniture store returned the bed. He promptly did so after he started suffering nightmares that he was sleeping with a fellow man on the bed whenever he tried to sleep.

Calm has however returned to all parts of Kenya and the Kenya Tourist Authority is urging Travelers not to cancel their holidays to Kenya. Despite some countries issuing travel advisories against travel to Kenya, some tourists who were already at the Kenyan coast have been extending their stay.

Why The Cheetahs cheeks are stained.

Long ago a lazy hunter was dosing under a tree. He refused to wake up and hunt because he felt that the sun was too hot and looking for an animal to hunt would be too much work for him. Slightly beyond him in the Savannah, were some Gazelles browsing but so lazy was this hunter that he didn’t want to chase them and catch one. He looked longingly at one fat Gazelle and wished that someone would catch it and bring it to him. He found himself wishing that the meat would be brought to him already cooked and then he wouldn’t have to move from the shady tree but just eat. On the spur of the moment, he noticed some movement to the right of the Gazelle. He quickly noted that it was a female Cheetah awaiting to pounce on the Gazelle. Then again he wished that he was a Cheetah then he would only have to chase the Gazelle gracefully and catch it. He continued to watch as the Cheetah stealthily moved closer. The Cheetah then pounced on a Gazelle that had carelessly wandered away from the other Herd and the rest of the Gazelles raced away in fear.

The hunter continued to idly watch as the Cheetah moved the carcass of the Gazelle to a bush. He noticed three fluffy tiny Cheetahs jump around and happily feast on the carcass. The lazy hunter felt jealous of the cubs. There they were simply lying around and hastily food is provided by the Mother. He then sat up suddenly. A thought had crossed his evil mind. The idea of having someone hunt for him everyday impressed him. Later that evening Mother Cheetah left to quench her thirst in a nearby River. She concealed her cubs under a thick bush. The Lazy Hunter then ran to the bush and grabbed the tiny cubs and hurried back to his hut. He decided that he would keep them prisoner and that their mother would be hunting and bringing the meat to his house where he would take the best parts and give the rest to the tiny Cheetahs. He had even planned that when they grew up all three of them would hunt for him and feed him and his family.

Mother Cheetah returned after quenching her thirst and to her horror all the cubs were missing. She wept all day and into the night. The poor mother Cheetah sobbed and sobbed until her tears made dark stains down her cheeks. At night the elders of the village heard the sorrowful cries of the Cheetah and until morning, mother Cheetah was still crying. The old elders came to see her and they asked her why she was very sad.Cheetah explained to them that she had hidden her cubs in the thicket to go and drink water but when she returned her cubs were not there!

The elders immediately knew that someone had stolen the cubs. They searched the huts and granary of every villager until they found the cubs hidden in the Lazy Hunters granary.
The whole village was angry with the lazy hunter because it was against the rules to steal and hunting was to be done by use of the hunters strength and skill.

The lazy hunter was ordered to return the cubs to the Cheetah and he was chased away from the village. But the continuous sobbing of the mother Cheetah stained her face forever. Even today the cheetah wears the tear stains on its face so to remind all hunters that it is bad to hunt in any other way other than the way the traditions say.

Why Mother Hen Is Always Scratching The Ground.

Long Time ago, in a village known as Amani, the Hen and the Hawk lived happily together and in Harmony. Their children also played and ate together. Hen and Hawk were such good friends that they would go to look for food together and they would share whatever food they got in the forest with their children. After they had come from looking for food,Hawk had a razor which she would use to sharpen her talons.Hawk was generous and would give Mother Hen the razor too and they would sit outside in the sun and sharpen their talons together.

Hawk always said that sharp talons were good for looking for food. But Hawk really loved to sharpen her talons until they got very very sharp. Mother Hen would always complain, “Why do you like to sharpen your claws so much? One day you will hurt yourself.” But Hawk would always laugh lightheartedly.

One day after they had come from the forest with food, Hen borrowed the razor and went to sharpen her talons in her home. After finishing, she placed the razor on the soil and began to prepare food for her chicks. The following day Hawk came to take the razor so that she could sharpen her claws and go and look for food but Mother Hen could not find it. So Hawk was unable to go to the forest to look for food with Mother Hen. But she did not worry because she knew Mother Hen would come with enough food for both of them. However, that evening Mother hen sneaked into her house with food enough only for her children. Meanwhile, Hawk waited and waited and waited for Mother Hen to bring her some food but mother Hen did not.In fact she went to sleep early that evening. Hawks claws were not sharp enough for her to look for food.

So in the morning she told Mother Hen again to try and get for her some food as she remained behind and tried to locate the razor. Mother Hen agreed again to get enough food for the two families. But in the evening she sneaked into her home and only fed her children. The following day she did so again and did not even bother to look for the razor. It so happened that at night one OF Hawks children fell ill and because the baby was very weak because she had not eaten, she didn’t live to see the morning. Hawk was very sad and asked Mother Hen why she didn’t bring food as they had agreed. Mother Hen rudely replied that she only had enough strength to feed her children. Hawk became very angry and told mother Hen to give her back her razor that same day or she would live to regret it.

Mother Hen didn’t even bother to look for the razor but went out to look for food for her children and didn’t even care to share food with Hawk. Hawk got very angry and carried her remaining weak children to a nest up on a tree that she had made. She then grabbed one of Mother Hens chicks and took it to the nest up on the tree. Mother Hen tried to protest but Hawk told her that she would continue taking her children until Mother Hen looked for and found the razor and returned it. So Mother Hen started scratching the earth frantically to find the razor so that she would get back her child. And until today Mother Hen frantically scratches the ground in her attempts to find the misplaced razor. Furthermore thats why Mother Hens and her chicks always run and take cover whenever they see Hawk circling in the skies.
