Facts That Influence Visits To Serengeti

One of the best known wildlife sanctuaries of the world, Serengeti National Park attracts approximately 150,000 visitors a year. In addition to this, there are millions who only dream of coming here even once in their life. Serengeti’s main attraction are its wild animals, which roam in the vast East African grassland settings created by grass plains, savanna woodland, and volcanic massifs. The lions, rhinos, leopards, monkeys, elephants, and dozens of other fascinating animal species of the park also get to enjoy small rivers and swamp areas, which also give them vital water resources.
One of the factor that influence what time of the year visitors visit the serengeti, is climate.
Serengeti’s weather is usually warm and dry, with average monthly high temperatures around 25 degrees Celsius throughout the year. However, as Serengeti has areas of several different altitudes between 900 and 1850 meters, temperatures vary depending on the altitude of the area. There are two rainy seasons, of which the first one is March to May, and the second from October to November. Winter and summer in Serengeti are separated mainly with nighttime temperatures, which during the winter (from June to October) drop remarkably lower than during the summer.
In addition to weather, another thing influencing to the timing of your visit is the living rhythm of the animals. If you want to see the massive migration of the wildebeest, come between December and July, and if you most of all desire to see predators, come between June and October.
