Governors` Camp was Africa`s first and most famous tented safari Camp. Almost a century ago this luxury camp in masai mara, was reserved, exclusively for Kenya’s colonial Governors. The setting of this Camp is magical. So much so that Governors’ Camp nestles in the forest along the winding banks of the Mara River, in the masai mara game reserve, whose waters teeming with bird-life, hippo and crocodile.
Some of the 37 tents line the riverbank, with uninterrupted views over the Mara River others have views across the sweeping plains.
The Camp Created in 1972, sets new standards in luxury as a tented camp, putting particular emphasis on comfort and service, complimented by the sort of good food, which would have been impossible in the bygone days of the grand safari. Today it’s still Africa’s best and set the standard by which all others are judged.
The lodge is frequented by the rich an famous including Bill gates and his family.

The 37 tents are in the classic safari style. Some tents line the picturesque whilst others have spectacular views across the sweeping Mara Plains. Each tent has its own en-suite bathroom with constant hot and cold running water, flushing toilets, even bidets. Miles from civilization, the cordon-bleu dinners by candlelight under canvas are a truly unforgettable experience. The camp puts you close to nature with a touch of luxury.
