Africa is known for its great white sand beaches. But before you pack your bags and head on to just anything that looks like a beach in Africa here is some advice on choosing one in the first place.

By far the most popular beach areas are those that are sheltered from ocean currents like along the Indian Ocean from Kenya to Mozambique, also along the Mediterranean which includes countries like Tunisia, Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula and also on the Indian Ocean islands of the Comoros and Madagascar.
Ghana too is fast becoming a popular tourist destination and has quite a lot of history even dating back to the days of slave trade.

Of equal importance as geographic location is the kind of holiday you have in mind. There are some resorts where you will find hundreds of other holiday makers, together with beach boys trying to sell you all manner of items including “romance”.

In other places you will find “all-inclusive” resorts that cater for high end customers with money to spend. Some even cater exclusively to nationals of certain European countries who tend to have certain tastes and preferences.

Other places are set up to cater for overland truck tours. By and large most resorts are both low key and with accommodation in bungalows being quite common.

Lastly when you go is of great importance expecially when you are considering the cost. Generally most of these tourist attractions have low, and high seasons with prices being highest during peak seasons.These seasons are usually determined by several factors among them being the climate in Europe because during winter most tourists from Europe go on holidays to these tropical warm destinations. Another factor is the climatic condition of the place in relation to activities. For example places popular with beaches tend to have their low seasons when the weather isn’t that good for sun bathing.
